It is sometimes odd to me that I am surprised by the fact that God moves.  He answers prayers, He guides us along our paths, He comforts, He disciplines, He affirms, and He protects.  I could go on, but you get the idea.  These are things that shouldn’t surprise me.  I know these attributes of my Father.  He has so many names that line up with these characteristics.

       However, when something happens in my life, whether it is good or bad, I look to myself first.  Why do I do it? Romans 7:15-25 pretty much describes the situation.  I’ll let you read it, but to sum it up, because I’m human, my nature is to do the things I don’t want to, but thanks be to God who made a way of deliverance through Jesus Christ.

Hallelujah!

      Here is the deal, my husband and I had an interesting situation present itself this week.  There was an accusation made against us and the person’s response to what he thought had happened was quite frightening.  I am so proud of my husband.  He went to the person to try to figure things out and was, unfortunately, met with even more frightening words.  He came home, visibly shaken up.

      The things that went through my head, let me tell you, had nothing to do with cheek turning and forgiveness.  In my mind, before I listened to Holy Spirit, I was already across the street taking my self taught tai-bo moves out on this person.  No one talks to my man that way.  I was victorious and celebrating, in my head, before I caught on I was being talked to by Jesus.

      I settled down and then started to pray.  Not only for forgiveness, but also for protection and guidance.  He gently reminded me that He had this and that it wasn’t my battle.  Then the morning after, I opened my Bible study.

      Psalm 121:1-8 is the address for the day.  I raise my eyes toward the mountains.  Where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.  He will not allow your foot to slip; your Protector will not slumber.  Indeed, the Protector of Israel does not slumber or sleep.  The Lord protects you: the Lord is a shelter right by your side.  The sun will not strike you by day or the moon by night.  The Lord will protect you from all harm;

He will protect your life.

      You see?  Nothing to worry about.  Crazy things happen.  Unexpected things.  Things out of our control.  Our human reaction is to handle it.  Whether in a good way or bad.  However, Jesus is always there.  Even when we do wrong, if we repent, He forgives us and gets us going again in the right direction.  I love it.  I love Him.  Deep breath.

Marching on.
