We made it! It’s finally upon us—Christmas Eve followed by Christmas Day. As this is my final blog for the year, I wanted to share what I feel to be the most important part of Christmas—Christ. I think this expresses it best:
Finding the real joy of Christmas comes not in the hurrying and scurrying to get more done. We find the real joy of Christmas when we make our Savior the focus of the season. It’s about how He came to give us love, hope, and joy. That message doesn’t change from year to year. When there’s so much bad news and devastation in the world, this is good news worth celebrating!
Luke 2:1-12 NIV – “Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; He is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in clothes and lying in a manger.”
Born in a stable, cradled in a manger, He came forth from heaven to live on earth as mortal man and to establish the Kingdom of God. His glorious Word reshaped the thinking of the world. He lived for us, and He died for us. What can we, in return, give to Him?
Isaiah 9:6 NLT – “For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on His shoulders. And He will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
Our celebration of Christmas should reflect the love and selflessness taught by Jesus. Giving, not getting, brings so much happiness to the spirit of Christmas. We feel kindlier to others and reach out in love to help those in need. Our hearts are softened. Enemies are forgiven, friends remembered, and God obeyed. The spirit of Christmas makes the window of the soul shine, and we look out on the world’s busy life and become more interested in people than in things. Just drop the last syllable of the spirit of Christmas and it becomes the Spirit of Christ.
Let’s all remember the true meaning of Christmas and celebrate the day in a way that gives honor to Him and the sacrifice He made for us all.
If you desire to find the true spirit of Christmas and the sweetness of it, find time to turn your heart to God. Maybe in the quiet hours, in a quiet place, and on your knees—alone or with loved ones—give thanks for the good things that have come to you. Ask that the Holy Spirit might dwell in us so we strive to serve Him and keep His commandments.

Take the time to celebrate with your family and friends. When you look at your Christmas tree, let it transport you to your childhood living room, Grandpa’s house, your first home…wherever you want to go. Mine is to a tinsel tree with the color wheel changing the tree all different colors with my Dad as a child. We didn’t have much, but it was a magical time.
Look for the good in people. Give happiness to others. Listen closely to what others have to say. I plan to chisel out little bits of time and make them count. It’s the perfect time of year. A little less negativity and a lot more nativity!
I want to wish each one of you a very Merry Christmas full of love and laughter and family and friends and wrapping paper and presents and happiness and joy. Not only at Christmas but every day. I wish each of you to have whatever Christmas miracle you have been praying for. I believe that magic happens at Christmas. I truly do. And may all of us remember the person whose birth we celebrate, Jesus Christ.
May your home be warm, your holidays grand, and may your heart be held in the Lord’s hand. May the Lord grant you and all your loved ones peace, joy, and goodwill. May the wonder of that first Christmas, the joy of God’s abundant blessing, and the peace of Jesus’ presence be with you always. I am so grateful for the “Greatest Gift” of Jesus in my heart.
