Do you remember back in school when they would have “Show and Tell” day? All the students would bring something from home and they would show it to everyone and then tell about it. It could be anything from a pet turtle to a baseball card collection but it was usually something near and dear to the child’s heart. Sure, the child could have gotten up there and just told about how great their baseball card collection was but there was something different about actually being able to see it.
I find the same thing is true when we share the gospel with others. Sure, we can tell people about Jesus but it’s much more impactful if they can seem Him in us. They need to see Him in our lives.
So how do we “show” them Jesus?
The greatest witness to people is a tangible faith. A faith that people can see. Not because they read it on your t-shirt or your bumper sticker. But because they see Christ in you. In the way you treat them. In the way they see you treat others. In the way, you respond to the good, the bad, and the ugly in life.
Everything you say and do speaks of the God you serve.
Jesus said in Matthew 5:16 to “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”
These days, as people gather together less, it can be a bit more challenging to let your light shine. But it is even more important than ever to step up to that challenge. Get creative. A phone call, a text message, a card in the mail… are all ways to extend the love of Jesus right now.
No excuses!
Be the light!
