I don’t know about you, but the Bible is my soul food. Everyday I feed on it and grow. You can’t be healthy if you eat junk food all the time. You can’t be spiritually healthy unless you feed on God’s Word. I want all the blessings that God has for me. I want to live in His Grace. I am hungry to be filled with Him. His Grace motivates me to live a godly life. It’s not an excuse to sin. Grace is seen in everyday experiences of kindness, forgiveness, and compassion, both received and given.
Jeremiah 15 : 16 (NIV) When Your Words came, I ate them; they were my joy and my heart’s delight, for I bear your name, LORD god Almighty.
Acts 20:32 (NLT) – “And now I entrust you to God and the message of His Grace that is able to build you up and give you an inheritance with all those He has set apart for Himself.”
Now some gifts God wants to give us , but He’s waiting for us to grow up. Just like you can’t give your young children some things because they aren’t mature enough for them yet.
I read it somewhere to use your hand to help you feed on the Bible to grow spiritually.
- Hear God’s Word- pinky finger
- Read God’s Word- ring finger
- Study God’s Word- middle finger
- Memorize God’s Word- pointer finger
- Meditate on God’s Word- thumb
- Palm- Applying God’s Word
If we only hear God’s Word at church, you won’t have a strong understanding of it. Just like you won’t have a strong grip with one finger. We forget a lot of what we hear over time. If we only hear God’s Word at church, Satan will easily be able to steal our joy. If we read, hear , memorize, pray , meditate, write it down, sing it, and study it daily every day become clearer. It becomes rooted in our very souls. No one can take that away. Allow it to be part of our conversation with our Father. It helps to shape our thoughts, actions, and choices. He will guide us. The Holy Spirit lives in us and reveals the truth and meaning of His Word.
We grow when we develop good habits in every area of our lives. When you build good habits, you will have good character. Our character is the sum total of our habits. We don’t get God’s blessings from knowing the right thing to do. We get it when doing the right things and making it a habit in our lives. The good habits we build in our spiritual life will pay off forever in our eternal life.
Let’s face it, his book is one of the few things in this world that we can truly say is awesome. It’s a love story, a true-life adventure, a self-help guide, a great mystery novel, a history textbook, and a poetry book all in one. Its author knows you better and loves you more than anyone else in the universe. The author really wants it to get inside your heart because if you don’t live it, it’s not worth a thing. Even when you have little faith with a longing to know more, God will always meet you there. We all can move forward in our faith.
There are 18 inches between your head and your heart. But some people will miss heaven by those 18 inches. They know God in their heads but not in their hearts. They believe the Bible, but they’ve never let it change their hearts. We were made by God and for God. Until I understood this life never made sense. Until I knew God I missed the purpose of my life. God will give us a final test and guess what the answers are in the Bible. He might ask “Did you get to know me? Did you build a relationship with my Son, who died on the cross for you? Make time for Him. Give your best to the most important thing.
History’s conclusion is inevitable. I’ve read the final chapter. God’s Word tells us how it ends. We have to go out and populate the Kingdom of heaven. We all want our friends and family to be with us in heaven. Our goal is to bring people into God’s Kingdom so they can be with him for eternity.
God gets glory when we love other people who are unlovable, when we share the Good News with everybody, everywhere, when we trust him with our all, and we trust that the end in inevitable and HE WINS,
Matthew 24:14 (NIV) And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.
Father, I want to be a part of what you are doing in the world. I believe you want to use me. I want to return to my first love: YOU. I want to be your hands and feet in this world. Help me to understand and live by your Word. In Jesus Name I pray.
Amen
