Today was my first baby’s, first day of Pre-K. She handled it great. She walked inside a little nervous but on her own and I’m so very proud of her for that.

Now, let’s talk about Mom.. I have been a weepy mess all day. I just confessed to a good friend at work, whom I often picked at for her ability to cry at the drop of a hat, about how I was so emotional. She quickly reminded me of my past comments by saying “since you have become a parent, you know now why being emotional is so easy for me”. That is so very true! Ever since becoming a parent I’ve become a little ball of, mostly unexpected, emotions. I can cry about pretty much anything when it comes to my kids, my daughter will sometimes show me something sweet that she has done by saying “look at this, I bet it will make you cry”.

I think it’s so easy to become emotional when it comes to our kids because it’s a mix of ALL the feelings at the same time. I often become overwhelmed by gratitude, love, worry, stress, fear, happiness, guilt; and worst of all, a sense of loss and dread because time and their childhood is going by like water in-between your fingers.

Realizing that absolutely breaks my heart. I want so badly for my kids to enjoy every moment of their lives but I know deep down they will have their fair share of heartache. I want them to experience a kind, loving and Christ-filled world, but again, I know that won’t always be the case for them. The world we live in is scarier than the one I remember as a kid.

As parents, I’m sure you would agree!

The concept of “truth” is a far fetched one. The ability to speak freely is being systematically silenced, the right to protect yourself or make your own decisions is being limited.

There’s a silent and invisible killer that is picking people off left and right and guess what… it isn’t a virus!

It’s satan, he hates you! He wants to see you look at a world he is controlling and believe there is no hope!

But guess what else, God’s promises are ours! They have always been ours and they will always be ours! His gifts are open and available to us, yes even in a world that looks drastically different than the one we used to know.

Sometimes we just need a little reminding of what God actually said to a broken world that seemed to be desperate and hopeless.

Isaiah 41:10

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

Deuteronomy 31:8

“The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”

Psalm 32:8

“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.”

Those are just three of the promises God gives us; promises to give us courage, guidance, and instruction. I don’t know if there is any other thing that I need in my life right now than courage, guidance, and instruction from God.

My prayer for you today is that no matter how messed up this world gets that we always lean on those promises and the countless others the bible provides for us. Until Jesus returns we will be stuck with corruption, pain, and fear but take heart He has overcome the world!

John 16:33

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
